Bid to protect elderly from abuse

28th June 2011

The emergency services have been meeting up with adult safeguarding officers to help prevent abuse of the elderly.

The Berkshire Safeguarding Adults Partnership board has been working with the police, ambulance and fire services to create a new safeguarding adults policy.

Wokingham Borough Council has given its support to the policy and said protection of vulnerable adults is a key priority.

Hopefully these guide lines will help to ensure that local charities and organizations are working together to share information and prevent abuse from happening.

If you need any further information a leaflet has been produced following World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on Wednesday, June 15, which gives key contact information for anyone suffering abuse.
